Doja Cat’s “The Scarlet Tour” marked a major milestone in her career, showcasing her fourth studio album, Scarlet. The North American leg of the tour, which ran from October to December 2023, featured a horror-heavy stage design with jaw-dropping special effects provided by Image SFX.
The North American leg captivated Doja’s fans across major cities in the U.S. and Canada. For her second tour and first arena-sized tour, the tour featured dark, demonic themes and visuals that added to the unique and thrilling fantasy Doja invited her audience into. With red smoke, fireworks, laser beams, with set pieces like a massive spider, wall of chains, and a disembodied eyeball.
Special Effects by Image SFX
Image SFX, a renowned special effects company, responsible for some of the biggest tours and artists, including Twenty One Pilots, Panic! At The Disco, BTS, and Paul McCartney, to name a few. Their expertise in creating atmospheric laser and pyrotechnic effects added an extra layer of excitement to the shows. The special effects were programmed by Nick Arnold, whose intricate laser design perfectly paired perfectly with each song's mood. One of these incredible moments was for “Agora Hills”, where beautiful wide, perfectly white sheets of laser light spread across the arena.
Laser Show Technology
Doja Cat’s “The Scarlet Tour” in North America and her performance for Coachella were both enhanced by laser technology, creating visually stunning experiences that further immersed audiences. The tour utilized 4x KVANT Spectrum 33 lasers.
Following the success of the tour, her Coachella performance featured 5x KVANT Spectrum 30 lasers. Both sets of lasers included integrated FB4 control hardware and controlled using Pangolin BEYOND software, which allowed for precise synchronization with the music and choreography.

Their use of KVANT Spectrum lasers, controlled through BEYOND, played a crucial role in enhancing the dark fantastical theme. By combining intricate laser designs with the horror-theme stage elements, Image SFX crafted unforgettable moments that left audiences in awe.
